
The graduating batch of the WLCI Creative School celebrated the culmination of their journey and announced the beginning of their professional life in a mega event, in New Delhi on 16th October 2014. The event was organized at the Oakwood Lawns, Tivoli Garden, Chattarpur. WLCI presented the promising designers of tomorrow in front of an elite audience.
A design exhibition aptly titled ‘Infinite Possibilities’ followed by a glamorous fashion show, ‘Quintessence’ was hosted by WLCI in the presence of eminent guests comprising of Mrs. Mohini Daljeet Singh CEO- Max India Foundation, fashion designers Harpreet and Rimple Narula, Alpana & Neeraj, Rajdeep Ranawat and Niket Mishra, along with jewellery designer Gogna and Swati Modo. Rohit Suri one of the leading photographer and Anamika Yaduvanshi, Socialite & Founder of Astitva Foundation and renowned choreographers Rashmi Virmani was also present at the show.
The Design exhibition “Infinite Possibilities 2014 – The Sustainable Statement” had been curated on corrugated boxes as a special initiative. The statement challenged the traditional approach and was dedicated to encourage and implement sustainable alternatives. The evening was inaugurated by the traditional lamp lighting Ceremony. Eminent personalities, from the field, were present to encourage the thinking designers. Creative Director of the MODI GROUP (Modi Revlon) Deepak Bhandari , Vice President & Executive Creative Director McCann Erickson, Anil Manan were amidst the pool of creative intellects. The exhibition was curated by Mrs. Deepti Baveja, National Academic Head for WLCI School of Advertising and Graphic Design.
Fashion took over the spotlight and style took the centre stage as 14 young designers of WLCI School of Fashion showcased their signature collections. Quintessence is the annual celebration of creativity of the students and applauds their entry into the professional world as young fashion designers, stylists, fashion merchandisers, illustrators, in fact, in all areas of the apparel industry.
The work witnessed on the ramp was conceived and crafted by the students of WLCI under the guidance of the highly qualified team of trainers and mentors. The collections were critically reviewed and evaluated by a team of distinguished jury members and industry leaders like Diksha Sachdeva, Director Fashion Solutions, Manish Tripathi, Director-Fashion Solutions, Anup Bhandari, Chief Editor & Chairman – Models n Trends, Jenjum Gadi, Fashion Designer , Sumit Saurabh- Textile Designer & owner – Design Circle, Sangeeta Bokadia Jain, Fashion Stylist and Swapna Shiote Head Designer – Satya Paul. The vivacious ramp show had been choreographed by Mr. Vinay Gupta.
Gracing the ramp adorned in the debutant collection of the budding designers were models like Anusha, Saina & Meenu and to name a few more models at the show were Nikita, Astha, Meher, Zuzana, Himakshi, Lupka, Akanksha, Deepanka, Anamika, Abhishek, Suraj, Prithvi, Neelesh and Aman. The anchor for the evening was Pratap Batra, whose voice added to the zeal of the evening.
Speaking about the event, Mr. Vinay Pasricha, Chairman of WLCI said, “After looking at the collection I can proudly say that the hard work and diligence of the Creative School has ensured another batch of high quality professionals. The work of our budding designers that has been showcased tonight is at par with the industry standards. The quality of the advertising and graphic design exhibition speaks for itself and we believe that our students will continue to be recognized for their excellence in the industry.”
Complimenting the student’s work, Ms. Anamika Verma, Head of Creative School at WLCI, added – “I can proudly state that tonight our students have matured into thinking designers and are ready to carve their niche in the professional sphere. This collection harmonizes all the core elements: Skill, Technique, Knowledge, and Thought. This represents the evolution of our students into professional designers.”
